The Black Goat Motorcycle Club is truly an amazing work. It cured all of my Lupus. It has made me rich, popular, and virtually irresistible to women, men, and all of the myriad creatures of the forest. After reading The Black Goat Motorcycle Club I am now able to perform a flawless reverse 360 windmill dunk with my eyes closed regardless of whether there is a basketball or hoop present. I wish that I could say that these were the only benefits that I reaped from my time with the Black Goats but I was also rewarded with hours of thrilling action, horror, and filthy adventure.

In short, you should read this book. If you don't I'm pretty sure that the Black Goat MC will come to your house and eat all of your lunchmeat and make many, many long distance phone calls without even asking you for permission first.

The Black Goat Motorcycle Club is truly horror storytelling at its finest.

Jason Murphy's prose is vividly descriptive which does help to give the reader a good sense of where they are and how they can envision it as they read, but at some point they'll wish they didn't when the bad stuff really goes down. The violence in this book is brutal and swift and hurts once you get invested in our protagonists. It helps to really add to the atmosphere established and give the book a great feel and weight of terror as you turn to the next page. The tension is thick and the world building in this is pretty exceptional if I may say.

The other thing worth noting is how fleshed out and distinct each character is. I found each of them with their own voice as I read their dialogue and would beg for them to make it out alive. The smallest character feels realized and everyone's details and the subplots feel nicely thought out.

As I kept reading and reading I truly got sucked into the story. That's the telling of great writing and Murphy has that in spades here. From the first page this book keeps spiraling into madness and never lets up and I love it. I hope to expect more for this writer.

The Black Goat Motorcycle Club tells the story of a handful of more-or-less innocent bystanders dragged into the path of the eponymous biker gang as they seek to recover something taken from them by a shady operative. Except these bikers are fueled by more than the usual drugs and wanderlust. Under threat of worse than death, a group of aspiring survivors learn that the lesser of two evils is the one that's on your side.

This book sunk its claws into my brainmeats from the first page and didn't ease up until the very last one. I found myself holding my breath at the end of more than a few chapters and wanted to know what happened next more than I wanted sleep. The fantastic narrative, painted in bloody brushstrokes, is grounded by realness of people and place, making it easy to suspend disbelief, even where monsters are concerned. The nonchalant brutality of Murphy's high velocity storytelling will hitch your imagination to the back of its hog and drag it across a field of battle with things that should not be. Read The Black Goat Motorcycle Club and then bug the author for a sequel.

I'd like to start this review with full disclosure, and say that I have been a fan of Jason's work for sometime, and probably would of not read this otherwise. It's in a genre a bit out of my wheelhouse, and thus if it contains any clichés, they would go clean over my head.

Normally, this would be where I describe the plot and such, but I feel describing much of it would be full of spoilers, specially the hook(someone else mentioned it, but I enjoyed discovering it, and will not spoil it myself).

Instead, I will talk about the characters. They are wonderfully complex and interesting. There is no real "hero" here, everyone is full of faults, have dreams and desires, and unique personalities that define them in the over all story. They make the story, more than any spectacle there is to be found here(and there is, indeed, spectacle).

The story itself is fast paced and addictive. I found myself reading long past when I should of turned off the light and gone to sleep. Each chapter ends with a small cliff hanger, making me eager to keep going and see what happens next. The writing itself was easy to read and comprehend, allowing me to mow through it without slowing down to figure out what is happening. Speaking of what is happening? The descriptions were brilliant. I could see exactly what was going on in my minds eye, with no effort on my part.

So, I'm giving glowing praise you say, why would I not give it 5 stars? Well... As with every book I read, I'm a stickler for spelling/grammar, and I feel it would be disingenuous of me to not do the same here. While the number of spelling/grammar mistakes are minuscule(generally kept to about 1 a chapter or less), some do repeat. So I'm dinging it one star.

Loved it. Black Goat Motorcycle Club is a fun, fast read through the vicious events that befall a small hospital in the middle of nowhere. Murphy manages to drawn characters that feel lived in and known, while constantly pushing the plot forward through scene after scene of escalating violence and horror. While the book deals heavily in tropes, it subverts them nicely and kept me highly entertained til the final page. Most impressively, it wraps with a hint at a larger world that I immediately wanted to discover. Looking forward to more of these characters someday. I will keep an eye out for whatever is next from the author.
